November 17, 2023 Last Updated on May 16, 2024

At the completion of the summer (high) season in Switzerland, many mountain railways and funiculars cease operation until April or May. Some cableways also close for maintenance prior to the busy winter season commencing and again before the start of the summer season.

In the article below, you will find details of closure dates for many of the most popular cableways, mountain railways and funiculars in Switzerland.

Travel on many of the cable cars, mountain railways and funiculars mentioned below is heavily discounted, and in some cases free of charge, if you have a Swiss rail pass. Find out more.
