James has lived in the Jungfrau Region for the past ten years and spends all his spare time exploring Switzerland.
The itinerary featured in this episode
Day 1
Arrival at Zurich Airport by midday. Short transfer by train to Winterthur. After checking in to your hotel, spend the afternoon visiting the Old Town or one of the many museums in Winterthur.
Overnight: Park Hotel
Day 2
Enjoy a trip by train to the charming town of Appenzell. After lunch, continue by train to St. Gallen to visit the impressive Abbey Library before returning to Winterthur.

Day 3
Spend the morning visiting Schaffhausen and the Rhine Falls. Return to Winterthur to collect your luggage and then continue on to Linthal where you board a funicular to travel to Braunwald.

Day 4
After a hearty breakfast, today is for enjoying the magnificent scenery of the Glarus Alps. Options include hiking, lunch at a mountain restaurant or simply sitting down and taking in the breathtaking views.

After departing Braunwald, travel by train and PostBus to Savognin in canton Graubünden. In the afternoon, wander the village.

Day 6

Day 7
Continue your journey to another Swiss destination or abroad. Savognin offers easy access to the Glacier Express and Bernina Express routes, and to Milan.
