>> Glacier Express route highlights – 91 tunnels, 291 tunnels, the Rhine Gorge, glaciers, and the UNESCO World Heritage listed Albula Railway line, including the Landwasser Viaduct, are just some of the highlights of the route.
>> Different classes of travel – as well as 1st class and 2nd class carriages, the Glacier Express also offers a premium experience for 20 passengers in it’s Excellence Class carriage.
>> Tickets and seat reservations – passengers travelling on the Glacier Express require both a ticket and a seat reservation. Securing seat reservations as far ahead as possible is highly recommended. In this episode, Gabi explains why seat reservations are required and which tickets and rail passes are accepted on the Glacier Express.
>> Services available on board – onboard services include free Wi-Fi and audio guides with headphones provided. Food and drink can be purchased onboard and served at your seat, with a 3-course menu also available.
>> Travelling with luggage – passengers are entitled to bring one large suitcase each (as well as a day pack) however, due to limited storage space, it is recommended to use the luggage transfer service offered by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).
>> Operating schedule – during winter, two services operate per day, per direction. This increases to four services per day in each direction during summer. The Glacier Express does not operate between mid-October and early December whilst undergoing regular maintenance and track works.
