If you're visiting Switzerland's Bernese Oberland, you may have heard about the Berner Oberland Regional Pass. Let's find out exactly what it is.

WHAT IS Regional Pass Berner Oberland?

It's a tourist pass which offers visitors free travel on almost all public transport in the region. The pass lasts 3, 4, 6, 8, or 10 consecutive days.

PRICE OF THE PASS

The regular pass price ranges from CHF 230 for 3 days to CHF 399 for 10 days. Holders of the Swiss Travel Pass and Swiss Half-Fare Card receive a discount.

Niesen Bahn

A mountain railway not to be missed, and free with the pass, is the funicular railway that runs up the side of the pyramid-shaped Mount Niesen.

First (Mount Schwarzhorn)

First is one of the smaller summits on Mount Schwarzhorn. It is becoming known as a destination for the adventurous, with the First Flyer zipline, mountain carts and scooter rides. It's also free with the pass.

Oeschinensee

With a depth of up to 56 metres, Lake Oeschinen's turquoise water has to be seen to be believed. The cable car from Kandersteg to reach the lake is free with the Regional Pass.

Excursion to Bern

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the old town dates back to the medieval period, with its most famous sight perhaps being the Zytglogge clock. You receive free travel to Bern with the pass.
