Glamping and Camping in Switzerland
Whilst hotels may be the go-to accommodation for most visitors to Switzerland, many other different styles of lodging are also available including camping and glamping, and in this guide you’ll find details of some of the best options.
Camping has long been popular with families and with travellers who like more outdoor space but glamping – ‘glamorous camping’ – is also becoming a sought-after style of accommodation.
In Switzerland there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy both.
In this guide, we cover a range of camping and glamping accommodation in Switzerland to suit all budgets.
From yurts to mobile homes in camping villages, and circus wagons to luxury pods, this article offers plenty of options for you to consider.
What's in this Article
Why choose to go camping or glamping in Switzerland?
Better Value For Families
Many hotels in Switzerland (and throughout Europe) can only accommodate up to three people per room, which means families with two or more children usually have to pay for two rooms.
This quickly becomes expensive – and often means that parents need to be separated so that there is an adult in each room which is not the ideal situation for many families.
Closer Connection To The Outdoors
Switzerland boasts a stunning landscape so why wouldn’t you want to be closer to nature? By choosing to stay in a tent, mobile home, chalet, circus wagon or pod you are just one step away from the great outdoors.
You can still enjoy all the little luxuries that you desire – such as hot water, a comfy bed and WiFi – with the added bonus of an endless supply of fresh air.
Unique Experiences
Make your trip to Switzerland unique and take home lasting memories of your special experiences.
Live out your childhood dream of staying in a circus wagon, star gaze through the glass dome in the ceiling of your yurt, or enjoy breakfast with stunning views from the balcony of your luxury pod.
Not only are these styles of lodging generally better for your wallet they are located in some of the most breathtaking locations in Switzerland.
Don’t dismiss camping in Switzerland because you think you’ll need to take everything with you. All the accommodation we feature below is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and if linen and towels aren’t provided, they are available for hire in most cases. Perfect if you are travelling from abroad!
Note: Some glamping and camping sites are seasonal and may only be open for bookings between (approximately) April and October.
