The beautiful medieval city of Lucerne features highly on many people’s Swiss bucket list – and rightly so! With a charming Old Town featuring cobbled streets and frescoed buildings, this compact city has a host of interesting things to see and do.
It’s also ideally located in central Switzerland, just an hour from Zurich and two hours from Bern. Getting to Lucerne is easy thanks to the excellent Swiss rail and road network, with frequent direct trains from Zurich Airport to the city an added bonus.

All visitors staying overnight in Lucerne are required to pay a visitor tax. Nightly rates are CHF 2.30 for per adult for 5-star and 4-star hotels and CHF 2.00 per adult for 3-, 2- and 1-star hotels.
The Visitor Tax is paid directly to the hotel and is generally not included in the nightly tariff.
