>> Alpenrhein Express – The Alpenrhein-Express connects St. Gallen and Chur through the scenic Rhine Valley. Along the journey, you’ll pass vineyards, travel beside the Rhine River, spot medieval castles perched above the valley and enjoy views towards neighbouring Liechtenstein.

>> Herisau to Appenzell train – This short 32-minute journey offers a beautiful glimpse of traditional rural Switzerland, passing rolling hills, lush pastures, forests and small farming communities. As you approach Appenzell, look out for the colourful houses that are so characteristic of this traditional region.

>> Luzern Engelberg Express – The Luzern–Engelberg Express takes you from the city of Lucerne into the mountains in just 43 minutes. The journey passes Lake Lucerne, meadows and forests before arriving in the alpine village of Engelberg, gateway to Mount Titlis.

>> Centovalli Railway – Connecting Locarno in Switzerland with Domodossola in Italy, the Centovalli Railway travels through the aptly named “100 Valleys”, crossing more than 80 bridges along the way. Expect deep valleys, waterfalls, forests and picturesque villages, with particularly beautiful colours during autumn.

>> Lauterbrunnen to Wengen train – It may take just 11 minutes, but the train ride from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen offers some spectacular views as it climbs steeply above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Sit on the right-hand side when travelling uphill for the best views of the valley, its towering cliffs and waterfalls.

>> Davos to Filisur historic train – This seasonal historic train takes you through the rugged Zügen Gorge in nostalgic carriages, including an open-air scenic carriage with uninterrupted views. During the 34-minute journey, you’ll cross 35 bridges and pass through 14 tunnels, with highlights including the Wiesen Viaduct and views of the famous Landwasser Viaduct.
